Civil Inspector (Rail/Metro)

Job Description

We are seeking a Civil Inspector to join the Project Management Consultant (PMC) team for a metro project The Civil Inspector will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting civil works on site to ensure that construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, contract requirements, quality standards, and applicable health and safety regulations.
Missions/Main Duties
Conduct routine and detailed inspections of civil works at the site.
Ensure that all works are performed in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and relevant codes and standards.
Inspect materials delivered to site and verify compliance with approved submittals.
Witness site tests and inspections in accordance with the inspection and test plan.
Monitor contractor workmanship and construction practices to ensure quality requirements are achieved.
Identify non-conforming work and report deficiencies to the Resident Engineer or relevant supervision personnel.
Maintain inspection requests, site records, checklists, photographs, and daily reports.
Verify that corrective actions are implemented and closed out in a timely manner.
Coordinate with QA/QC personnel and other engineering disciplines on interface and compliance matters.
Support progress monitoring by reporting actual site status and construction issues.
Ensure that health, safety, and environmental requirements are observed during execution of works.
Assist with snagging, de-snagging, substantial completion inspections, and handover processes.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in construction supervision or inspection of major civil works projects
• Preferably experienced in metro, rail, infrastructure, underground, or large transportation projects
• Experience with a PMC, supervision consultant, or engineering consultancy is preferred
• Strong knowledge of civil construction inspection procedures, quality standards, and applicable international codes and specifications
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, and method statements
• Good reporting and documentation skills
• Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors and multidisciplinary supervision teams
• Good communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage
• Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, inspection documentation, and non-conformance tracking is preferred
